A couple of BRTU board members spend a day fishing the Bitterroot River

Bitterroot Trout Unlimited Board members Jack Mauer and Greg Chester on the Bitterroot River April 24.

Greg is a tireless supporter of fishing conservation, education and youth in the Bitterroot Valley. Today he is on a donated float by Jack to Bitterroot Trout Unlimited. Greg bid on and got the trip, Jack was happy to oblige. This is one of the best trout they got that beautiful day.

Both Greg and Jack are hard working conservationists and you can see here that they "walk their talk."

Bitterroot River in late April

This trip was a donated trip to Whitefish Mountain Alpine Race Team. Two generous guys from Whitefish bought the trip and fished on April 24. Thanks for supporting western Montana's young ski racers and spending the day with Jack and Wapiti Waters.

A little April snow is a great thing for Montana snowpack

It is cold out there and windy, but a little snow now will help keep us fishing in the dryer summer months. We are doing the happy snow dance.

Jeff just sent this photo of his buddy and the brown trout he caught that day. Here it is. And he sent this photo of Jack holding another pike. They are doing their part in getting some pike out of the Bitterroot.

Bitterroot River April 10 with Jeff Rogers

All the fish photos are Jeff holding his fish. The boat photos are a wooden boat going over the diversion dam. All went well.

Fly fishing the upper Bitterroot with Roy Loman in early April

Trout (of course), Pileated Woodpeckers, ice, and on the next day - a cow moose. Interesting times on the Bitterroot. Love the spring.

Rachel fly fishing on the Bitterroot River in March

A day on the river with Jack learning all there is to know about fly fishing - though she has been fishing with Jack since she was very young. On this day, she rowed a lot, but that didn't stop her from wetting her line and catching a lot of nice fish. What a gorgeous spring day.
