Bob Ratcheson on the Bitterroot with Jack in early April

Bob and Peggy fished with Jack...the day was a little cold (as has been this Montana spring) but the catching was good.

Fly Fishing the Bitterroot with Bob and Peggy and Bob's bamboo rod

Bob and the trout he caught on his bamboo rod

Bob and Peggy live in the Bitterroot south of Hamilton. They love to fish, love the outdoors and are avid Bitterroot Trout Unlimited supporters and members. We are proud of their service to one of our favorite organizations.

They fished with Jack on a nice fall day in late October. Bob used his bamboo rod and both of them caught some nice trout.

Big Hole River with Bob Ratcheson

Jack holding Bob's beautiful brown trout
Bob and Peggy have a home near the Bitterroot River but you have to fish other places, too. On this day, Bob and Jack ventured "over the hill" to the Big Hole. It paid off. Cooler temperatures, more water, lots of fish and spectacular scenery were some of the perks.

Fly Fishing the LOWER Bitterroot for trout and pike with Bob and Ferguson

Bob with a lower Bitterroot River trout
Jack met Bob and Ferguson at a public access and fished the very LOWER Bitterroot for trout and pike. This is near the confluence of the Clark Fork and Bitterroot Rivers and is great habitat for both species of fish. Here are 4 different views of one of Bob's nice cutthroat trout.

Jack brought one pike home to give to a friend who likes to eat them but they didn't get any photos of pike.

I like showing the river and it's features, but also to show close up views of the trout. Here is the slideshow of the 4 photos.

The Big Hole River with Peggy and Bob Ratcheson

The Big Hole is a wonderful river. It is quite a bit higher in elevation than the other rivers we fish with much of the Big Hole valley floor above 6000 feet. Today Jack is using his raft because the water levels are also lower than the Bitterroot, Clark Fork and Blackfoot. A raft doesn't make much noise when it hits the rocks, etc.Peggy Ratcheson on the Big Hole River

Bob and Peggy are heading back to Ohio next week and we are having this years last fishing fling on this amazing river.

Blackfoot River with Bob Ratcheson

Bob Ratcheson with a fat trout on the Blackfoot River

Bob Ratcheson fishes with Jack regularly, and today Jack took him on a stretch of the Blackfoot River Bob had never fished. What a beautiful trout and stretch of the river!
