Winter in Colorado - Billy is still fishing

Billy Burk, our good friend in Colorado sent us these great photos recently. He said I could share them on the blog. All the photos are by Billy. Thanks Billy!
From Billy Burk 2011 Super Bowl
Here is a photo of two Superbowl fish. My neighbor Cody and I went to the river Sun. morning and Had the whole river to ourselves; (it's been a while, due to increased exposure in the media). After landing a double, he donated his (smaller) fish for a photo op. One monster took me out to the deep, faster current and came unbuttoned, Grrrrrr! There was a good Midge hatch coming off though, and we landed a bunch of stocker's on size 22-26 Miracle Midge pattern. My Bride and I went to some friends' for their "Bowl" party in the afternoon had a blast there too! What a great day!

From Billy Burk 2011 winter
I took a photo of my buddy and neighbor Cody on our trip to the Taylor River Tailwater ( the Hog Trough) catch and release area. Big fish are always possible. Unfortunately they are very well educated and tight-lipped for the most part! We got snowed on most of the day but during a calm moment I saw this photo-op.
The last photo is a sunset.

Billy Burk fishing a reservoir in Colorado

Billy Burk is a good friend and fishes with Wapiti Waters as often as he can with his buddy Jeff (who lives here). Billy stays in close touch and sends us photos from time-to-time. Here are the most recent ones.
From Big Fish spring 2010 - Billy Burk fishing a high-park reservoir in Colorado

It's been very Windy here this year too. I took a day off for my Birthday on the 5th, and went to a High-park reservoir at a spot where you have to hike in for a couple miles. Ice off, and opening day did not happen till May 1st this year (very late). I had to fight the "W" for most of the day from straight-on, and my right boot (wader) had sprung a new leak. I stuck with it though; as the fishing was Great!  I landed 22 fish, all but one were in the 3-4 lb class; Whoo-Hoo! They were taking a red Ice cream cone- Chronamid pattern that I tied myself. The only way it could have been better, is if I had someone there with me to share the experience.

Wish I was coming this year again to see you! Will make a concerted effort next year!

Please tell Jack I said Hi. Will keep you up to date, especially after the Rogers' visit here next month.

Take care, and I hope your fishing season is an awesome one!!!!!
Billy
Thanks Billy, we will see you next year! Merle and Jack

Hey Merle and jack! Just a note to wish you well. Hope you are happy and content this holiday season. Sorry I didn't make it up there this year, next year I will make a concerted effort to show up and fish circles around Jeff!
Attached is a photo of a nice Cutbow I landed Saturday on the Arkansas River, close to my home. Tight lines!..

Billy just sent me another one! I love it that it includes his son, Ryan!
Billy, son Ryan, Visla dogs Shy and Yoshi
note from Billy: Hey Merle, I will include one more photo with this e-mail, then I had better leave room for someone else! This is a pic. of my son Ryan, and I, at the end of a successful pheasant and quail hunt in Kansas. Our Vizsla's, Shy and Yoshi, love it as much as we do! Those deep sea fishing photos were from my trip with the Rogers' to Mexico in August. Thanks for a great website and blogger!!!! .Billy
