  1. Jack and Merle:
A belated happy Thanksgiving to you both and greetings from Colorado. Plenty of news here. Nice mule deer buck (170")hanging in the barn by 7.30am on opening of second rifle season, shot with the .280 I hunted antelope with Jack in Montana and the red stag in Patagonia. Still waiting for snow to drive the elk down so I can fill my cow tag and freezer. Hunted bobs and blue quail over Bessie, my Brittany, now 3 yrs old,in S Colorado last week; birds scarce and country still in drought, but great time with old bird shooting friends. Family has been joined by young yellow Lab (Lucy), now 10 months, a maniacal retriever already. Martha and I planning to return to Argentina in (our) spring next year to hunt the red stag roar again. My latest book, Rivers of My Memory, a celebration of rivers I've fished and hunted near in past 40 years (in Australia, N Zealand, Colorado, Montana, Alaska, England, Patagonia, Tanzania and Zimbabwe)publishes next month. Short stories and poems mostly. Find it on Amazon.com
Martha and I send our best to you both for Christmas and for a happy and healthy 2009.
